Rochelle Davis
Founding Executive Director
Rochelle Davis is the founding Executive Director of the Healthy Schools Campaign. She also serves as Primary Investigator on an NIEHS funded Partnership to Address Disparities in Asthma and Obesity in Latino Schools. She was the founding director of Generation Green, a national membership organization that works on children’s environmental health issues. She has more than 20 years of experience in not-for-profit management and finance. She is co-author of "Fresh Choices," a cookbook that explores the relationship between food, the environment and children’s health (Rodale, 2004).

Mark Bishop

Deputy Director
Mark Bishop has a strong background working on indoor air quality issues with five years at the American Lung Association of Eastern Missouri as director of Environmental Programs. At the ALAEM, Mark directed state-wide environmental health education campaigns and policy initiatives. Mark has a bachelor's degree in political science and environmental studies from the University of Michigan and a MBA from University of Missouri.

Dorian Breuer
Information Services Director
Dorian Breuer oversees HSC's technology and supports fundraising efforts. Dorian has 13 years experience working in the not-for-profit sector in Information Technology and Fundraising roles in the United States and United Kingdom, most recently as the Director of Development for Orphans of the Storm animal shelter in subruban Chicago. Dorian also maintains a busy personal schedule with community and environmental justice advocacy work in his neighborhood of Pilsen, Chicago. Dorian holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Studio Art from the University of New Hampshire and a Masters Degree in War Studies from the Universtiy of London.

Anayency Elizondo
Administrative Assistant
Anayency is a sophomore at Harold Washington College studying child development and early childhood education. At HSC, she works on data management, event logistics and distribution of HSC’s publications.

Donna Fishman
School Nurse Program Director
Donna Fishman runs HSC's school nurse leadership program. Donna has over 20 years of experience in non-profit management and works in such areas as grant writing, program evaluation, publication development, professional training and conference planning. Donna earned her bachelor's degree in sociology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and her master's in public health at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Jovita Flores
Project Coordinator, Parents United for Healthy Schools
Jovita Flores is a well known and widely respected community organizer in Chicago’s Latino communities. She has successfully brought school health into focus as a social justice issue to motivate parents and community leaders to take action supporting wellness at school. At HSC, Jovita is continuing to work with parents in forming school wellness teams and organizing change for healthy schools.

Guillermo Gomez
Chicago Director
Guillermo Gomez has extensive experience in not-for-profit advocacy organizations that focus on underserved minority communities primarily in Chicago and around issues as diverse as education, public transportation and health services. He is the Project Director of Partnership to Reduce Disparities in Asthma and Obesity and works with Chicago area community organizations, is responsible for managing the Chicago based projects for the organization and serves as liaison between HSC and community organizations. He earned a bachelor's degree in social welfare and a master's degree in guidance and counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Cheryl Bondy Kaplan

Senior Development Officer
Cheryl Kaplan has extensive experience in fundraising, finance, marketing, communications and public policy. She has a bachelor's degree in economics and public policy from Duke University and a MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. Her responsibilities include development, event planning and communications.

Tara Kennon
Communications Manager
Tara’s work has given her experience in writing, design and marketing communication for a variety of organizations. Most recently, she served as director of communication and marketing for Chicago Metro Association for the Education of Young Children and as a writer for the Community Technical Assistance Center. Prior to her work in written communication, she taught conversational English in Nagoya, Japan. Tara has a bachelor’s degree in English and international relations from George Mason University and a master’s degree in professional writing from Carnegie Mellon University.

Allison Krass
Charity Athletics Manager
Allison brings nine years of event planning, communications and marketing experience in agency, non-profit and corporate arenas. She started her career as an account executive with a boutique PR firm in Chicago before moving on to development, event planning and fundraising work for the Big Shoulders Fund, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and Best Buddies Illinois. Allison then went on to do event planning and marketing for Ethel’s Chocolate Lounge. In addition to her part-time position as Charity Athletics Program Coordinator, she has launched her own event planning company, AK Events. Allison holds a bachelor's degree in Communication Arts from North Park University.

Susan Kurland
Consultant, Principals' Project
Dr. Susan Kurland recently retired as principal of Nettlehorst Elementary School, where she made healthy eating and active lifestyles a priority throughout the school. At HSC, Dr. Kurland will work with principals to implement effective wellness strategies.

Claire Marcy
Development Director
Claire Marcy has 10 years of experience as a community organizer. Prior to coming to the Healthy Schools Campaign she spent five years as Co-Executive Director of Blocks Together, a grassroots organization based in Chicago's Humboldt Park community. She has a deep commitment to efforts that lead to a more just society and a broad knowledge of fundraising. Claire has a bachelor's degree in political science from DePaul University and a master's degree in public policy and administration from Northwestern University.

Alicea Miller
Development Associate
Alicea’s experience lies primarily with executing educational and fundraising events with Chicago nonprofits. Alicea joined Healthy Schools Campaign in January of 2008 to work on fundraising and organizing efforts for Cooking up Change and the marathon program. She holds a bachelor's degree from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Previously, Alicea worked with organizations including the Donors Forum, the National Marine Manufacturers Association, and the United States Department of State.

Claris Olson
Environmental Health Consultant
Claris has 15 years of experience with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 9 (EPA R9), San Francisco, 10 of which were spent as a tribal liaison and grants project manager for southwest Indian tribes. She also worked in the EPA R9 Laboratory providing field, laboratory, and technical support to EPA program staff as well as state and tribal counterparts. Before joining EPA, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Macas, Ecuador. She has a bachelor's degree in biology from Southeastern Louisiana University and a master's from the University of Mississippi.

Susan Samek

Administrative Director
Susan has worked in museums and educational nonprofits for more than 20 years. She served as a curator at the Chicago Historical Society and as their first Director of Exhibitions. Over the past six years, Susan has managed small nonprofits and historic house museums, including the Hegeler Carus Mansion in LaSalle-Peru and the Evanston Historical Society at the Charles Gates Dawes House.

Jean Saunders

School Wellness Director
Jean Saunders began her career in corporate marketing and advertising working for high tech firms, including Apple Computer and the grocery delivery firm Peapod. Most recently, Jean has operated a small catering business and has worked with elementary and middle schools and other organizations to deliver cooking-in-the-classroom programs. Jean has a Professional Culinary Certificate from Kendall College and earned a MBA from the University of Toronto and a bachelor's degree in dairy/food science from the University of Guelph, both in Canada.

Michael Trail
Administrative Assistant
Michael recently moved to Chicago from his home town of Detroit to study sociology. He will be a sophomore at Roosevelt University. In his free time, Michael likes to read, play the piano, exercise and explore Chicago. At HSC, Michael works on data entry, IT support and administrative support.
