People around the world are concerned about childhood obesity and school food: what can we learn from their experiences?

Jean Saunders, Healthy Schools Campaign’s director of school wellness, is serving as part of the American delegation to the 2007 International Exchange Forum on Children, Obesity, Food Choice and the Environment.

HSC has worked to improve children’s health through innovations in local, state, and national policies: through Jean’s involvement at the international exchange forum, HSC will bring international perspectives to the tables of school cafeterias here in Illinois.

At these Lunch & Learns, Jean will share international approaches to school food and how they can benefit children in Illinois. For example:

∙ How are parents, teachers, public health leaders and culinary professionals in another country addressing childhood obesity?

∙ How does culture shape children’s experiences with food and with their environment?

∙ How can we begin to think differently about the role of food in the classroom and in the cafeteria?

Join us for one of these fascinating and informative discussions of the lessons we can learn from this international exchange. Seating is limited; please register online or call 312.419.1810.
