On March 2, five high school students from Chicago brought a healthy school lunch they created to Congress. Please join the students in speaking up for better school food by urging your Congressional leaders to support a strong, well-funded reauthorization of the Child Nutrition Act, making healthy meals a priority every day.
In 2006, the state of New York became the first state in the nation to pass a law protecting children’s health by requiring green cleaning in schools. In 2007, Illinois passed a similar law. In Nov. 2008, Healthy Schools Campaign brought together activists and industry leaders from states around the U.S. to build coalitions that will advocate for green clean schools laws. Raise your voice for green cleaning in schools by adding your name to the list of supporters.
Students and teachers from across the US shared photos of their school building conditions for the Through Your Lens exhibit, book and online gallery to raise awareness of the need to fund school buildings that support learning and provide a safe, healthy environment for students and teachers. By sharing photos and stories of what they see every day at school, students and teachers provide us all with an honest window into today’s school buildings. Please take a moment to check out the book, then raise your voice to remind your legislators that school facilities matter. The book is being released as Congress considers legislation to fund the repair, renovation and construction of safe, healthy school buildings.
