Support Better School Health Services - HJR46

Without official statewide data on the health needs of students in Illinois, it is difficult to set appropriate school health policy at the state level. The current scattershot approach prevents state policy from addressing school health in a methodical or comprehensive manner.

This Resolution will authorize a taskforce to report on the health needs of Illinois students and set recommendations on developing a comprehensive school health policy approach. The report will also serve as a baseline for future school health research and monitoring.

This Resolution establishes a taskforce to study and compile a report on:

  • The current health needs of school children in Illinois and the services required to address these needs;
  • The barriers that limit the delivery of health services in schools; and
  • The support necessary for ongoing monitoring of these school health services
