UPDATE: July 31 Environmental Health Forum
Due to a change in her schedule, EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson will no longer be able to speak at the forum. In her place, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Peter Grevatt, EPA Senior Advisor for Children's Health. As head of the EPA’s children’s health department, Dr. Grevatt brings a wealth of knowledge and experience specific to the issues at hand at this forum. He will also be available for a meet and greet prior to the forum, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
We look forward to seeing you on Friday! If you will not be able to attend the event, please contact Alicea Miller at 312-419-1810.
Thank you!

Forum: Environmental Health in Schools
July 31, 2009 · 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon · Tarkington School of Excellence |
|
The connection between children’s health and the health of our environment is, perhaps, nowhere more clear than in our nation’s schools. The air children breathe and the lessons they learn about wellness and sustainability directly affect their health -- today and years in the future.
Please join Healthy Schools Campaign for a forum featuring national, state and local leaders discussing efforts to protect children’s environmental health in schools and beyond, including:
- Working together with government, industry and the community to ensure that schools are safe and healthy
- Addressing climate change in schools
- Preparing the next generation of environmental stewards
Forum participants include:
- Peter Grevatt, EPA Senior Advisor for Children's Health
- Kate Tomford, Director of Sustainability for Illinois Governor Pat Quinn
- Suzanne Carlson, Director of Environmental Affairs for Chicago Public Schools
- Bill Balek, Government Affairs Director for ISSA
The forum will be followed by a 30-minute tour of Tarkington School of Excellence, Chicago's first LEED-certified green school. |
