Naperville School District 203, a leader in addressing school environmental health issues conducted a walk through of their school and highlighted the importance of the key elements of the Checklist including reducing mold, reducing exposure to diesel engine exhaust and having adequate ventilation.
Chicago NBC affiliate News Channel 5 walked through Naperville School District 203 to see how a school can implement an indoor air quality program. The broadcast aired on September 8th and is expected to reair on September 11.
The Checklist is an important tool for parents, teachers and students to evaluate their school environment and address any problems through a preventative approach to environmental health. The Checklist was developed jointly by BE SAFE Network and Coalition for Healthier Schools (CHS), including the Healthy Schools Campaign, Center for Health, Environment & Justice (CHEJ), Healthy Schools Network, National PTA, Children's Health Environmental Coalition, Learning Disability Association, Beyond Pesticides and others.
